Lisle's Once Upon a Christmas returns Dec. 2
The Lisle Heritage Society and Lisle Park District are hosting the annual Once Upon a Christmas, a holiday tradition featuring old-fashioned, festive fun for the entire family, from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at The Museums at Lisle Station Park, 921 School St.
Lisle Model Railroad Club members and other railroad enthusiasts built and operate a large HO gauge model railroad in the basement of the historic Netzley-Yender House. It will be donned with some special festive flair.
The club welcomes anyone from the greater Chicago area that has experience with HO scale trains that is willing and able to participate in annual events and assist with ongoing construction to join the club.
While enjoying hot chocolate and hot apple cider, visit with Santa & Mrs. Claus in the Depot; create a holiday craft and write letters to Santa in the Beaubien Tavern; or enjoy a holiday workshop in the Blacksmith Shop.
You also can purchase holiday gifts, including wares crafted by the blacksmiths and the annual collectible ornaments, at the Lisle Heritage Society Gift Shop.
Also on Saturday, the Lights of Lisle Festival will feature the Santa Parade at 4:30 p.m. Watch as Santa, the Lisle mayor and village board trustees, and local community organizations join in a parade through downtown.
The parade will be followed by a tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. at the village hall, 925 Burlington Ave.
There will be food trucks, drink vendors, and ice-carving demonstration from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Stop by downtown businesses on Main Street all day for Merry On Main, with holiday fun including holiday-themed activities such as games, decorated windows, store and restaurant specials, giveaways and drawings, holiday treats, and more.
There is free parking available at village hall and in the commuter parking lot.
