Christmastime at Fine Line, an artisan gift sale, opens Nov. 30

On Thursday, Nov. 30, the Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles will open its doors for its 36th annual Artisan Gift Sale. There will be holiday decorations, pottery, scarves, pictures, jewelry, cards and more for sale.

More than 60 artists are participating in this one-stop holiday sale this year. It is impossible to mention all of them, however, to give you a flavor here are just a few of this year's artists.

Mark Sullivan has been taking classes at Fine Line for a few years, but this is his first time participating in the Christmas show. His ceramic snowmen dressed in colorful top hats and scarves, and in some cases, jackets, are full of character and would make great additions to anyone's holiday decorations.

Another new artist is Toni Eisenberg, who makes resin jewelry that contains locally foraged flowers and plants. The delicate refinement of Eisenberg's jewelry makes all her pieces great gifts for any jewelry lover.

As Fine Line is home to several fiber artists, you would expect this sale to include a range of fiber items and you will not be disappointed.

A range of hats, scarves, mittens, towels, hand-dyed yarn and more will be included in this event.

Ellen Phillips teaches basketry at Fine Line and her tote baskets with long straps look great and are a great size to carry your farmers market purchases, library books, stuff for your kids and more.

The sale will include handmade teddy bears by Heather Winslow, leather bags by Kris Frandson, and mugs galore for that much-needed cup of coffee or tea from various artists that include Sue Dix, Karen Cluchey, Matt Brej, Rhonda Lindberg and Dee Karabowicz.

With such an array of gifts we can't possibly list everything, so we invite you to visit Fine Line to see for yourself.

"This is always a great event thanks to the artists taking part" said Lynn Caldwell, executive director of Fine Line Creative Arts Center. "It's fun to see the fantastic array of handcrafted items - no two years are the same. Our artists continue to amaze and delight with their creativity."

This event runs for six days and is set up throughout Fine Line's Kavanagh Gallery and adjoining studio.

The space will have a range of items to suit all budgets. No matter who you are shopping for you are bound to find something for everyone on your list at this year's Artisan Gift Sale.

It's worth coming more than once to ensure you don't lose out, as, even though all items are usually out on opening night, things get moved around and new treasures often reveal themselves on a later day.

Fine Line also will have their annual yarn sale during the Artisan Gift Sale. With 25% of all yarn, including many items already marked down, it's a great way to stock up on yarn to knit during winter.

The Artisan Gift Sale at Fine Line opens on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. Fine Line has ample on-site free parking available, and there is no admission fee to browse the show.
