National Louis University is proud to be named one of the top 30 most impactful institutions in the country for contributions to public good and the "best bang for the buck" in the Midwest.

The rankings from Washington Monthly, which are intended to balance other national university rankings that rely on factors like wealth and prestige, recognize NLU's commitment to uplifting students and communities by making quality, career-focused education accessible to all.

"Affordability, accessibility, inclusivity, and real-world impact are central to NLU's mission and overall thinking," said Dr. Nivine Megahed, president of National Louis University. "This ranking is especially meaningful as we continue our work to shift deeply ingrained cultural and historical perceptions of who deserves a college degree and what a college-educated individual looks like."

Washington Monthly's National University rankings evaluate colleges and universities in three equally weighted categories for social mobility, research, and promoting public service.

This balanced methodology is designed to redefine what "excellence" means in higher education and measure useful and relevant outcomes such as an institution's commitment to enrolling students from modest backgrounds, getting them through college, and helping them achieve upwardly mobile careers.

The "Best Bang for the Buck" ranking, which doubles as Washington Monthly's social mobility evaluation, assesses universities on how well they help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices. Considered factors include graduation rate, a comparison of the reported graduation rate to a predicted graduation rate based on the percentage of Pell recipients, the percentage of students receiving student loans, the racial/ethnic and gender makeup of the student body, and more.

National Louis University's overall, and social mobility, rankings from Washington Monthly highlight the university's longstanding commitment to provide innovative solutions to complex societal issues through the transformative power of education.
