Roselle Lions Rose Festival returns for 61st year with music, parade, 5K and more

The Roselle Lions Rose Festival is marking its 61st year of kicking off the summer festival season on June 1-4.

Enjoy a family-friendly weekend of music, 5K race, parade, food and fun this weekend at the Roselle Metra Station parking lot at Irving Park Road and Maple Avenue.

The annual festival will be 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday, noon to midnight Friday and Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday.

The festival food court will feature a variety of foods, drinks, and desserts. Unlimited carnival rides are available for $25 from 6-10 p.m. Thursday and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday. It will be $30 from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Free entertainment will be offered in the Miller Festival Beer Garden, rain or shine.

The Led Zeppelin tribute band Physical Graffiti will once again kick off the community festival from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday.

On Friday, the music stage will open with Focal Point performing rock anthems from Boston, Journey, Styx, Bon Jovi, Van Halen from 7 to 8:30 p.m., followed by Poison'd Crue, offering their tribute to 1980s hair bands, from 9 to 11 p.m.

The ninth annual Rose Festival Car Show will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Wickstrom Chevrolet, 555 E. Irving Park Road. Trophies will be awarded to top showings, and there will be music by DJ Tony. The entry fee is $10 per car. The rain date will be Sunday, June 4.

On Saturday, the Roselle dance troupe "Lights, Camera, Dance" will perform from 1 to 2:30 p.m., followed by the Schaumburg School of Rock performing cover music from 3 to 5 p.m.

Bottled Blues will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, followed by JakTripper which melds diverse styles and influences together in an eclectic mix from 8 to 11 p.m.

The eclectic cover band The Voodoo Dolls will wrap up the festival at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Run for the Roses 5K

Xtra Mile Running is hosting the 2023 Run for the Roses 5K on Sunday, June 4. The USATF-certified 5K course is flat, fast, and a local favorite, starting and ending at Lake Park High School's West campus.

The race is run in an oblong loop on the streets of Roselle. Plaques will be given to overall top three males and top three females.

The 5K race will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the one-third mile Youth Run at 9:15 a.m.

The 5K fee is $35, with family rates are available. The kids race is $10.

Rose Parade

The Village of Roselle and the Roselle Chamber and Commerce are hosting the 62nd annual Rose Parade on Sunday, June 4.

The lineup begins at 12:30 p.m. with the parade stepping off at 2 p.m.

The parade will start at East Devon Avenue and North Roselle Road. It heads south down Roselle Road to East Thorndale Avenue, east on Thorndale to North Prospect Street. It continues south on Prospect to East Irving Park Road, heading east to Lawrence Avenue.
