Unitarian Church joins Geneva's citywide garage sale for the first time

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva is participating in Geneva's city-wide garage sale for the first time, offering more than 1,500 items for sale at the church's historic building at James and Second streets downtown.

More than 100 church members and friends have scoured their own garages, attics, closets and basements to uncover a wide range of treasures to sell.

During the sale on Friday and Saturday, April 28-29, shoppers will find everything from antiques and collectibles to quality furniture, hand and power tools, household items, sports memorabilia, toys, clothing, books, and much more.

Other highlights include vintage Barbie dolls, English Toby jugs, Wedgwood and Royal Doulton china, brand name and designer clothing, and a Patrick Kane Blackhawks jersey.

"Our church doesn't have a garage and frankly, no garage is big enough to hold this many amazing things," said Jenny Montgomery, co-organizer of the event. "So we're opening up our historic 1843 building and inviting everyone in to browse the many items on offer. Proceeds from the sale will help our church sustain and expand our support of local charitable organizations and programs that benefit the community."
