Young at Heart hosts slumber 'pawty' to help its senior animals

Young at Heart Senior Pet Adoptions is partnering with animal welfare organizations throughout the globe for the first annual International Shelter Slumber Pawty.

On Saturday, March 25, hundreds of animal lovers around the world will spend 24 hours side-by-side with shelter pets to raise funds and awareness for community animals.

Young at Heart's staff and volunteers will spend 24 hours at their facility eating, sleeping and "pawtying" with shelter residents while raising money to support their mission to provide senior dogs and cats with a safe haven to ensure they live with comfort, compassion and companionship in their golden years.

The Shelter Slumber Pawty gives people a chance "to really get to know some of our wonderful senior dogs and cats looking for forever homes, and get a behind-the-scenes look at what makes Young at Heart's cage-free adoption center for senior pets so unique," said Dawn Kemper, Young at Heart's founder and executive director.

The behind-the-scenes fun will stream on social media during the 24-hour event. Young at Heart's goal is to raise $25,000 for senior pets in need. Participants have already begun fundraising efforts online at www.shelterslumberpawty.com, and all proceeds will go towards the organization's animal care costs.

Young at Heart Senior Pet Adoptions is a 501c3 nonprofit animal welfare organization that believes that love has no age limit. Young at Heart is committed to saving the lives of homeless senior pets, especially those at risk of unnecessary euthanasia in community shelters.

With a cage-free adoption center in Woodstock, the organization only rescues and adopts out dogs and cats over the age of 7 years, placing hundreds of senior pets into loving homes each year since its founding in 2005.
