River Trails original musical features a cast of 50 students

The students at River Trails Middle School are performing the musical "Too Cool for Preschool" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the school, 1000 N. Wolf Road, Mount Prospect.

This musical was written by Steve Flowers, one of the music teachers at the school. Flowers has been teaching at River Trails Middle School for 28 years, where he has codirected 12 musicals and written four of them.

"I love writing musicals that give everyone the chance to shine and be creative on stage," Flowers said.

"Too Cool for Preschool" is the story of three outrageous days at Agnes O'Connor Preschool. Agnes, the owner, secretly wants to sell the school, but even after the kids, parents and teachers survive crazy power outages, temper tantrums and food fights, they all realize that their school means more to them than they ever imagined.

This musical features nine original songs and a cast of 50 students.
