Woods & Wetlands series looks at the Des Plaines River March 19

Woods & Wetlands Group of the Illinois Sierra Club will host a program on the Des Plaines River for its Sunday Speaker Series on March 19.

Michael Prusila, planning supervisor for the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission, will be the guest speaker.

The Des Plaines River, which drains about one-third of the county's land area, has played an important role in the history and development of our landscape.

Prusila will describe the geography, history and impact of the river, past and present, in Lake County.

To learn more about the current conditions of the river and gain some insight toward what the future holds for this important Illinois waterway, join the Sunday Zoom program.

Woods & Wetlands invites anyone interested in the Des Plaines River to join at 7 p.m. on Sunday March 19.

The Woods & Wetlands Group of the Sierra Club Illinois Chapter is one of 14 groups working on environmental issues at the grassroots level across Illinois.

The group has about 2,800 members who come from all over Lake County, plus Glencoe, Glenview, and Northbrook in northern Cook County.
