Kane HCE Unit members attend state conference

Kane County Home and Community Education members Pat Kowalkowski of Country Cousins Unit, Naomi Redman of Kennedy Unit, Nancy Haire, Joan Rossi and Robin Tibbets of Plato Center Unit are attending the 99th annual Illinois Association for Home and Community Education Conference.

The conference is being held at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham, March 14-16.

Through the years, the organization has changed with current times.

First known as Home Bureau Federation, then Homemakers Extension Association and today as the Home and Community Education, is affiliated with the University of Illinois, the National Volunteer Outreach Network Inc., Country Women's Council, U.S.A. and the Associated Country Women of the World.

The aim is to educate members in our homes and communities and to promote social and economic well-being in neighborhoods.

The Illinois Association for Home and Community Education continues to cross the boundaries when providing unique and inventive ideas from our lessons to learn current, researched information. State and county officers are provided with information that inspires them to work to support and promote the community in which they live. Members attending will be choosing from an abundance of lessons and workshops. This information will be taken back to their own communities to share with members and guests who did not attend the conference.
