Wauconda horse makes big screen debut at short film fest

Kodak Moment, a horse trained by Wendy Lani at Resolute Farm in Wauconda, will star in a romantic parody short film, "A Stable Holiday," which will screen at the Bensenville Short Film Festival on Thursday, March 2.

The 10-minute film will be shown at 7 p.m. at the Bensenville Theater, 9 S. Center St., Bensenville.

"A Stable Holiday" follows city-dweller Sarah (Teresa Martinez Moore), a skeptic of romance movies, as she inherits a surprise horse from her great-aunt Agatha.

Horse Ted (Kodak Moment) is preparing to compete in a local horse show, and with a little help from his rider (Adam Rebora), he may turn Sarah into a lover of Rural County and love in general.

Filmed in Chicago and Wauconda at the Horses for Humanity farm, the short film is an official selection of The Bensenville Short Film Festival 2023; The Star City Film Festival 2023 in Waukon, Iowa; and the 2023 Animal Crackers - Pet Film Film Festival in Ontario, Canada.

"A Stable Holiday" is written and directed by Jess Elfring-Roberts, with music by Eileen Marie Moore-Roberts; starring Teresa Martinez Moore, Jess Elfring-Roberts, Adam Rebora, Bryan Cosgriff, Ali Pepper, Ana Ortiz-Monasterio Draa, Miles Strong-Austin, Chelsea Emond and Kodak Moment.

Horses for Humanity is a nonprofit that specializes in equine assisted activities.

Resolute Farm offers hunter/jumper riding lessons, as well as horse boarding, training, sales, and show teams.
