Kane County extends deadline to apply for anti-smoking and vaping project funding

The Kane County Health Department is extending the deadline to apply for funds to support anti-smoking and vaping policies, educational campaigns and cessation services.

Kane County middle and high schools may apply for $3,000 to promote anti-vaping educational campaigns and initiatives.

Healthcare organizations are eligible for $4,000 to make tobacco cessation resources available to their patients.

Kane County businesses and organizations may apply for up to $750 to cover the costs of anti-smoking and vaping policy development, signage, and quitting resources for employees.

Applications will be accepted through Tuesday, Feb. 28.

"Our goal is to keep people from starting to smoke or vape and to provide resources to anyone who is trying to quit using these highly addictive products" said Michael Isaacson, Kane County Health Department executive director. "Additionally, we want to create environments that protect everyone by reducing exposure to smoking and vaping."

Tobacco use remains one of the leading cause of preventable disease, disability, and death in the United States.
