Wheaton Park District's Ice A Palooza 2023 promises icy action Feb. 4

It's that time of year when Mother Nature turns ponds and puddles into glorious opportunities to sail across icescapes on blades of steel.

Set your inner ice-skater free on Saturday, Feb. 4 when the Wheaton Park District presents the 2023 Ice A Palooza at the Central Athletic Complex ice rinks, 500 S. Naperville Road in Wheaton.

Open skating, hockey games, costumed characters and entertaining demonstrations will be featured at this free event.

Skaters must bring their own skates.

The event schedule includes outdoor self-led games, an activities tent and chances to meet and greet the Ice Queen and Snow Princess, along with Rusty, the Chicago Steel hockey team's canine mascot, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Center Ice of DuPage will present a figure skating performance from 11:15 to 11:30 a.m., followed by a special performance by the Ice Queen and the Snow Princess at 11:45 a.m.

A hockey game demonstration is set for noon to 12:15 p.m.

The day concludes with a fast-moving demonstration by the Glen Ellyn Speed Skating Club from 12:30 to 12:45 p.m.

The Curious Crow food truck will be on site with a menu that features cold-weather warm-up favorites including coffee, hot chocolate, donut holes, cherry cobbler, chili, grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.
