Nicor Gas awards educational grant to support Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs in Cook and McHenry counties

Last week, Nicor Gas announced that Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs will be the recipient of a $5,000 grant to support their summer manufacturing camps in Cook and McHenry counties.

These camps provide youth with hands-on experiences and access to resources that build and strengthen their technical, analytical and communication skills in order to maximize their economic opportunities and provide exposure to career pathways in manufacturing.

"We know that access to educational and workforce development opportunities is critical to ensure our communities are not only strong, but thriving places to live and work," said Jackie Nagel, manager of Community Engagement at Nicor Gas. "As the largest natural gas provider in Illinois, we are committed to doing our part to develop a qualified workforce through the support of secondary and postsecondary educational opportunities, as well as technical and vocational programming."
