Joliet Hooters delivers purses, toiletries and inspirational notes to Guardian Angel Community
Hooters of Joliet partnered with #LovePurse to hold a new purse and toiletry drive to help local women who are victims of domestic violence feel special and loved.
General manager Nicole Sancen, who spearheaded the efforts, delivered 37 purses filled with the items the restaurant collected to Guardian Angel Community, an organization that provides services to victims of domestic abuse. Joining Sancen for the delivery was Joliet Hooters Assistant Manager Michele Donovan.
Several Hooters employees helped fill the purses with toiletries and inspirational notes to make each woman feel loved, valued and respected.
"Domestic violence is an issue that is personal. When I was younger I was in a very toxic relationship and I was lucky enough to have family next to me and most women don't. For this reason I chose to give back to the women of the Guardian Angel Community. They escape a situation with sometimes nothing. We were able to give them back some dignity, and will definitely be doing this drive again," said Hooters of Joliet General Manager Nicole Sancen. Sancen hopes to get more Chicagoland Hooters locations involved in the future.
"The Joliet Hooters donation is incredible! The variety and style of these purses are so nice and fashion forward, not to mention the generous contents in each of them. This is exactly what can help our clients in their time of need; to have some much needed essentials and thoughtful gifts. Some of the clients we serve flee the horrors of domestic violence with no belongings. These Love Purses will be such a wonderful gift for them. We are extremely grateful," said Guardian Angel Community Services Chief Development Officer Jane Ukleja.
#LovePurse provides purses and toiletries to local women shelters and other local non-profits. The organization believes in "Putting love on the shoulders of women in need, one #LovePurse at a time".
