YWCA Metropolitan Chicago Celebrates Giving Tuesday

Some 50+ business, community and local organizations recently gathered for the YWCA Giving Tuesday Breakfast at Independence Grove - Libertyville, celebrating 100 years of impact across Lake County. Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, is a day that encourages us to give back in whatever ways we can. It offers nonprofit organizations opportunity to raise even more funds than on an average day of giving, and many organizations create special campaigns to participate in this day of giving.

YWCA CEO Nicole Robinson, Cheryl Hudson-Jackson, Loukisha Pennix, Betzy Berganza Orellana and team, shared how the merger of YWCA Lake County and YWCA Metropolitan Chicago, and your ongoing support, has deepened and expanded YWCA's impact for area individuals and families.

"YWCA is one of the oldest and largest local human services organizations with a mission to eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all," noted Robinson.

Attendees at the breakfast also included Lake County Treasurer Holly Kim; Kristi Long, United Way; Maggie Morales, Lake County Community Foundation; Carol Levin, GLMV Chamber of Commerce, and other business, non profit and community leaders.

"We applaud the YWCA and our many GLMV family, community, civic and non-profit organization partners for the role they play in creating thriving communities by providing important services and programs year round," noted GLMV President Scott Adams.
