Lisle's holiday traditions feature Santa Parade and festive fun

The Lisle Heritage Society and Lisle Park District invites the community to "Once Upon A Christmas," a holiday tradition in Lisle featuring old-fashioned, festive fun for the entire family.

This free event takes place in conjunction with the Village of Lisle's Santa Parade, tree lighting ceremony, and Merry on Main.

It will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at The Museums at Lisle Station Park, 921 School St.

Visit with Santa & Mrs. Claus in the Depot while you enjoy hot chocolate and hot apple cider.

You also can create a holiday craft and write letters to Santa in the Beaubien Tavern. Or enjoy a holiday workshop in the Blacksmith Shop.

Purchase holiday gifts, including wares crafted by the blacksmiths and the annual collectible ornaments, at the Lisle Heritage Society gift shop.

Merry on Main

Join downtown businesses on Main Street for holiday fun in "Merry on Main." From 3 to 5 p.m., see Santa's Elves when you check out the Elf window displays, or enjoy a "Holiday Reading With An Elf." There also will be games, store and restaurant specials, giveaways and drawings, holiday treats, entertainment and more.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase in Lisle Commuter Lot B, including food trucks and Lisle's own BubbleHouse Brewing Company.

Santa Parade & tree lighting

Watch the holiday parade through downtown Lisle! Santa will be joined by the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District, village officials and community organizations in this time-honored tradition. The parade will step off at 4:30 p.m. at Spencer and School streets, heads west to Main Street, proceeds south on Main Street, then east on Burlington Avenue to the Lisle Village Hall parking lot at Burlington and Center Avenue.

It will be followed by the annual tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. in front of the village hall. Visit www.villageoflisle.org/holidays.

Luminaria displayed throughout downtown Lisle and Prairiewalk Pond will light the way starting at 3 p.m., which combined with these events will help set the festive atmosphere throughout downtown Lisle.

These time-honored traditions are sure to kindle the joy of the season.
