Village of Schaumburg Offering Small Business Grants

The Village of Schaumburg has allocated $245,000 to provide grants of up to $30,000 to small businesses defined as having 50 or fewer employees to assist in responding to the economic and public health impacts of COVID-19. Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis until grant funds are expended.

On March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan Act ("ARPA") was signed into law and established the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund and Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, which together make up the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds ("SLFRF") program. The SLFRF program provides $350 billion to state, territorial, local, and tribal governments to assist in responding to the economic and public health impacts of COVID-19 and assist in their efforts to mitigate impacts on their communities, residents, and businesses.

"Small businesses are the backbone of our community, providing employment opportunities and vital goods and services to our friends and neighbors in Schaumburg. With many businesses adversely impacted by the pandemic, we are grateful to partner with the Village of Schaumburg to help businesses return to pre-pandemic operations," said John McNabola, Executive Director of the Center of Concern.

Small business can receive up to $30,000 depending on the number of employees. Funds can cover expenses such Operating capital (payroll and lease payments are capped at 50% of total grant award), Workplace protective equipment used to respond to COVID-19 (masks, gloves, sanitizers, sneeze guards, partitions, etc.), Exterior improvements (prevailing wage and additional HUD regulations will apply), and Correct code violations.
