Wood Dale Library to host grand reopening Sept. 10

The renovation and expansion of the Wood Dale Public Library began in 2020.

Over the past two years, the library has been completely renovated and expanded.

A long-awaited grand re-opening will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the library, 520 N. Wood Dale Road.

The public is invited to see the new library and participate in special events throughout the afternoon.

The opening ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. with dedications and a ribbon cutting.

At 2 p.m., a "Feathered Friends" Bird Presentation will take place on the back lawn of the library.

Throughout the afternoon, Culver's Ice Cream will be served on the library patio and the library's new Storywalk will be open for families to explore. There will be lawn games for kids and library card sign-up opportunities for all.

All activities are free, no registration is necessary, and the public is encouraged to attend.

The new library includes: an expanded programming area with flexible walls; a dedicated "Tween Area" new small group study rooms integrating technology and furniture; new furniture and seating options; additional ADA restrooms; additional parking and lighting; a large outdoor patio for programming; new carpeting and tile; updated infrastructure including energy efficient lighting, HVAC systems, roof upgrades, emergency lighting, and a new sprinkler system.
