Sign up for 'Trek with a Naturalist' this fall

The Forest Preserve District of Kane County offers "Trek with a Naturalist" programs, designed for those who like active hiking - all year long.

Each month, participants take an invigorating two-hour hike at a different forest preserve. The hikes will be led by a forest preserve district naturalist, who will interpret the ecology of the preserve along the way, but the main goal is to cover ground.

This fall, the first hike will take place on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Elburn Forest Preserve, located at 45W061 Route 38 in Elburn.

The second hike will be on Thursday, Oct. 20, from 4-6 p.m. at Voyageur's Landing Forest Preserve, located at 50 Airport Road in Elgin.

The third hike will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9-11 a.m. at Aurora West Forest Preserve, located at 40W032 Hankes Road in Aurora.

These free programs are for ages 18 or older.

Advance registration is required. Call (630) 444-3190 or email programs@kaneforest.com to register.
