Northern Illinois Food Bank cuts ribbon on its new facility
On Aug. 16, Northern Illinois Food Bank's North Suburban Center celebrated its new location and expansion to Lake Forest/Green Oaks with an official ribbon-cutting and open house events.
The 28,000-square-foot center is triple the size of the old space. The food bank served 12.8 million meals in 2022, and is now feeding more than 400,000 a month, with the need only continuing to grow, said Northern Illinois Food Bank President/CEO Julie Yurk.
Yuko thanked the community for coming together, noting that the new, larger space will enable even more families in need to find food, and increase the number of volunteers and donations.

GLMV attendees, who also received a behind-the-scenes facility tour, included: GLMV President Scott Adams; Vice Chair April Koot, Servpro-Libertyville; James Smith, ReMax; Denise Palmer Kafkis, village of Green Oaks; Judy Fabbri, Duraclean; and others.
