Music, fireworks and parade to be part of Lisle's Independence Day weekend

As part of its Independence Day celebration July 3-4, the village of Lisle and Lisle Park District are hosting two free concerts, fireworks, a parade, and ice cream social.

The summer entertainment series continues on Sunday, July 3, on the Van Kampen Stage in Lisle Community Park, 1825 Short St.

The Brass Buckle Band will perform country-rock music from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

It will be followed with Anthem playing classic rock music and beyond from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Fireworks, presented by the Village of Lisle, will follow at 9:30 p.m. The show is expected to last approximately 25 minutes.

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to this family-friendly event to view a spectacular aerial show in celebration of Independence Day.

Spectators are encouraged to walk or bike to Community Park.

For those needing to drive, parking is available at the following locations: Riverview Drive and Short Street lot, Sea Lion Aquatic Park, 1825 Short St., and Lisle High School, 1800 Short St.

Alcoholic drinks may not be brought onto park district property, but will be available for purchase at Community Park during the concerts.

In commemoration of Independence Day, the Fourth of July Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Monday. Join in honoring those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.

The parade route will begin at Lisle Junior High School, 5207 Center Ave., and proceed west on Jonquil Avenue, north on Main Street, west on School Street, South on Center Street, ending at the Museums at Lisle Station Park.

Decorate your bike and bring it to Lisle Junior High School to line up before the parade from 9:30-9:45 a.m. All decorated bikes can participate in the parade.

Then join the Lisle Heritage Society for their annual ice cream social at The Museums of Lisle Station Park, 921 School St., at 10:45 a.m., following the parade. Discover Lisle's past with a frozen treat, while supplies last.

The parade is hosted by Lisle Park District, Village of Lisle, Lisle Police Department, Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District, Lisle Unit District 202, Lisle Chamber of Commerce, Lisle Teens with Character, and Ross Bishop Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5696.
