Musical performers needed May 16-17 for 'Into the Woods' auditions

Performers 13 years and older are invited to audition for College of Lake County's theatre department summer musical production of "Into the Woods." Auditions will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 16 and Tuesday, May 17 at the Studio Theatre located at 19351 W. Washington St. in Grayslake.

The musical is about a baker and his wife on journey into the woods to lift a witch's curse. There, they meet Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood and other classic fairy tale characters. As the story unfolds, they all must learn the responsibility that comes with getting what you want. Witty, enchanting and touching, the Tony Award-winning "Into the Woods" is a favorite among musical theatre lovers and a timeless masterpiece.

Those auditioning need to prepare one minute of a song from "Into the Woods" and a one-minute monologue of their choice. Actors need only attend one day of auditions and should bring an acting resumé if they have one. Callbacks are Thursday, May 19 from 6:30 - 10 p.m.

Rehearsals begin Wednesday, May 25. Rehearsals are Monday through Thursday evenings until tech and dress rehearsals, which are July 9-15. Performance dates are July 15, 16, 21, 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. and July 17 and 24 at 2 p.m.
