Schaumburg GOP honors veterans, first responders

Both veterans and first responders were recently honored for their service and continued involvement in the communities of Schaumburg Township by the Republican Organization.

Committeeman Joe Folisi said, "We can never say enough, 'Thank you for your service!' to these incredible individuals who have put themselves in harm's way. Also, many still do so, to preserve our freedom and liberty besides keeping us secure and coming to our rescue as needed!"

The program began with Hoffman Estates police Lt. Darin Felgenhauer as the guest speaker. A Marine veteran, Felgenhauer was recently honored as Veteran of the Year by the American Legion of Illinois.

His presentation was followed by brief remarks from mayors Tom Dailly of Schaumburg, Rod Craig of Hanover Park, Craig Johnson of Elk Grove Village, and Trustee Gary Pilafas representing Mayor Bill McLeod of Hoffman Estates.

All conveyed some personal thoughts about the heroic service that the honored guests have contributed to their communities.
