Hooters Management Corporation Presents $50,524 to Holy Family School

Hooters Wings for the Kids program raised a record amount of donations from chicken wing sales at 11 Chicagoland Hooters locations including Aurora, Chicago-O'Hare, Chicago-Wells Street, Countryside, Downers Grove, Joliet, Lansing, Melrose Park, Oak Lawn, Orland Park and Schaumburg. Representatives from Hooters Management Corporation visited the school on October 29 to present Holy Family School with a donation of $50,524.

During the entire month of September, Hooters Management Corporation donated one-third of all chicken wing sales on Thursdays to Holy Family School. The Hooters Wings for the Kids Program started in Chicagoland in 1992. Since then, it has raised over $869,857 for Holy Family School. The money raised funds tuition, technology and books for children living in under-resourced communities. Holy Family School is located in Homan Square on the west side of Chicago at 3415 W Arthington St.

Holy Family School was established in 1985, to offer a high-quality education for minority students in Chicago's low-income neighborhoods. Holy Family provides a learning environment that nurtures intellectual, spiritual, social, emotional and physical growth for students Kindergarten-eighth grade. All proceeds directly support the children of Holy Family, by funding scholarships and after school programs.

"Education is the surest way for a child to rise out of poverty and the partnership with Hooters Management Corporation offers significant support for our children to be academically successful, " said Holy Family School Chief Executive Officer Cheryl Collins. "It would be easy for a corporation like Hooters to think only of their bottom line, especially during these unprecedented times. Yet, instead they think about the children of Holy Family- children who live in neighborhoods that are underfunded and under-resourced. Hooters supports Holy Family students by helping to ensure they receive the best education possible, an education that will assist them to become tomorrow's world leaders. We are so very grateful for this partnership."

"We started this program in the Chicago area 29 years ago to help raise funds to support children's education in our community. We are excited that this year's program raised a record amount of funds for the school. Being an active participant in our community including helping children and education is a priority of Hooters Management Corporation," said Hooters Management Corporation Chief Marketing Officer Denise Williams. In addition, Hooters employees have volunteered at the school.

"In the small town of Waverly, Iowa, in the 1960's, my friends attending the teen activities at Luther League every Sunday night included the future founder of Hooters, Ed Droste. Many years later, I called him to see if he would help our little school in the heart of the Chicago Cabrini Green housing projects, where we yearned for a better education for the children," recalls Dr. Susan Infelt Work, CEO Emeritus of Holy Family School. "Ed said yes, and the Hooters' tradition of caring and sharing was launched."

Hooters Management Corporation owns and operates 24 Hooters Restaurant locations in Tampa Bay, Chicagoland and Manhattan. Hooters came to Chicagoland in 1991.
