Lake in the Hills to join National Lights On Afterschool celebration Oct. 28
On Thursday, Oct. 28, the Village of Lake in Hills will join the national Lights On Afterschool celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. at the village hall, 600 Harvest Gate. The event will shine a light on the importance of afterschool programming.
The village's celebration will be one of more than 8,000 events across the nation and one of 40 event sites in Illinois. Parents and children, neighbors, village employees, school officials, and other community members are invited to attend in support of safe, stimulating afterschool programming.
"Lights on Afterschool showcases the benefits that afterschool programming provides to working families throughout our community," said Recreation Supervisor Kristi Brewer. "Afterschool programs offer parents a safe, educational environment for their children and provide children with opportunities to grow academically, discover new interests, and socialize with their peers."
Event participants will explore 30 activity tables, visit the Beyond the Bell at Lincoln Prairie Elementary School student showcase, join in activities for parents and children, take on the Lights on Afterschool Light Bulb Challenge, and more.
