Civil War historian to speak on 'Chicago's Memory of the Civil War' Oct. 23

On Saturday, Oct. 23, the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main St., will host noted Civil War historian, author and consultant Robert I. Girardi on "Chicago's Memory of the Civil War" at 2 p.m.

This program focuses on the Windy City's portrayal of the Civil War in its public art, parks and cemeteries and how the memory and significance of these events has changed over time.

The program is free and refreshments will be served.

The Salt Creek Civil War Round Table was founded by Marilyn Steele in 1962 during the anniversary of the Civil War centennial. It is one of several round tables located in the suburbs of Chicago. Learn about the group at saltcreekcwrt.org.
