Wheeling High School hosted the 53rd Annual Chicagoland Marching Band Festival on September 11, 2021. Ten bands competed for Grand Champion including three other District 214 schools: Elk Grove, Rolling Meadows and Buffalo Grove. Harry D. Jacobs came out on top in Class A, while Elk Grove won the Class AA. The Grand Champion was Mundelein High School. "We were so pleased to pull off our 53rd Annual Chicagoland Marching Band Festival last weekend. I was amazed by the excellence from our guest bands and hope they all enjoyed a performance opportunity to reboot the marching band activity once again after last year's time off," expressed Michael Malek, director of Wheeling Bands. This festival is the longest-running band festival in the state of Illinois. Randy DeCoursey, parent, states, "The Chicagoland Marching Band Festival has a long-standing reputation of being one of the most well run and organized festivals of its kind. This year did not disappoint thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Wheeling staff and parent volunteers."
