Self-Care Isn't Selfish Women's Health and Wellness Expo (SSIS Expo)
Waukegan, IL - On September 18, 2021, Waukegan will name the day, "Self-Care Isn't Selfish Day" after an event that occurs on the same day - the Sis, Self-Care Isn't Selfish Women's Health and Wellness Expo (SSIS Expo). Women are nurturers, many times to a fault. The pandemic hit and women became teachers, doctors and caretakers on top of normal responsibilities. Self-care, if practiced at all, became non-existent. As the pandemic has taken a slight turn, HOPE Productions Co-Founder, Angela K. Baldwin, created a space for women and self-care. During the SSIS Expo, women can learn about several aspects of self-care through panel discussions, while also shopping more than 60 small business vendors and enjoying entertainment in one event, the Sis, Self-Care Isn't Selfish Women's Health and Wellness Expo. The event begins with a ribbon-cutting ceremony which includes State Rep. Rita Mayfield, Mayor Donna Johnson and Senator Adriane Johnson.
The culminating event for the evening is The SSIS Experience which gives the women an opportunity to come together for comedy, conversation and two concerts.
