Best of Bloomingdale winners announced
BLOOMINGDALE - On Oct. 6 the winners of the 2022 Best of Bloomingdale were announced at an awards dinner. This signature Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce event is designed to recognize outstanding members of the greater Bloomingdale business community.
This is the chamber's sixth year hosting this event, which is growing in popularity every year, even through the pandemic. The process started with nominations from the community followed by public voting. Winners were chosen by popular vote and a panel of judges reviewing a questionnaire completed by the nominees.
Winners will receive a blown glass award to display in their business, a poster, a sign to display in front of their business and a Best of Bloomingdale Winner logo to use in their marketing for the coming year.
Businesses are placed in appropriate categories with one special award going to the Best Overall which is given to the one nominee that stood out above the rest in both voting results and the judges' evaluations. This year the award was presented to Anyway's American Grill & Pub.
"I'm thrilled Anyway's won Best Overall. They are a big supporter of the chamber and community, as well as holding fundraisers for area non-profits. They have been an active member for 11 years," said Cindy Allston, President/CEO of the Bloomingdale Chamber.
"We had great growth this year with the number of businesses participating. The more businesses participating, the more everyone receives exposure. We had some very close races with the increase in nominees and categories. One race was a difference of one vote, and with over 15,000 votes, the odds of that are pretty impressive. After the judges' scores, we had another race with less than one point difference, it was .45 between the winner and second place.
"It is exciting to see the outcomes, as there are always surprises. Every business is a winner in my book as they participated and marketed their business across platforms. Just to be nominated and be on the ballot is an honor. I'm looking forward to what 2023 will bring."
Businesses did not have to be located in Bloomingdale to win, only serve the Bloomingdale Area. There were some businesses from neighboring communities who won in the past and this year.
