Elgin Altrusa Club installs new officers

Altrusa International of Elgin, a service club for active and retired executive and professional women, recently installed its new 2021-22 officers.

Altrusa International District Six past governor Elaine Wolf of the local Fox Valley Altrusa club installed the new officers: Laura Schaefer, president; Dana Vierck, vice president; Murna Hansemann, secretary; Salvation Army Captain Linnea Forney, treasurer; one-year term directors, Nancy Gerner and Holly York; and 2-year term directors, Marge Haefliger and Dorothy Wiese.

The installation ceremony was titled "Leaders in Service."

Wolf assigned each officer and board member a special word that fit the position, such as "Longevity" for Kathy Canny, past president; "Harmony" for Nancy Gerner, Marge Haefliger, Dorothy Wiese, and Holly York; "Fortune" for Linnea Forney; "Peace" for Murna Hansemann; and "Happiness" for Dana Vierck.

Wolf assigned the word "Hope" for incoming president Schaefer.

"It's the perfect word for me," said Schaefer. "I anticipate the best in everything I do and hope close to my heart for our club to rise up as we enter our new phase after the pandemic."

Altrusa International of Elgin is part of an international nonprofit organization based in Chicago, Illinois. Its focus is "leading to a better community" to make communities better through leadership, partnership and service with a local and global impact.

Members reside throughout the Fox Valley area from Algonquin, Bartlett, Elgin, Hampshire, Huntley, Pingree Grove, St. Charles, Sleepy Hollow, South Elgin and Wheaton.
