Rep. Bos honors track state champ Jake Myers

State Rep. Chris Bos (R-Lake Zurich) honored recently-graduated Lake Zurich High School student athlete Jacob Myers for his success at the Class 3A boys' state track and field finals, held in June.

Myers, who won the 1,600-meter state title, was presented with an official Certificate of Recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives by Bos to honor his achievement.

"I've been fortunate to know Jake and his family since he was young," Bos said. "It's great to see such a dedicated young man achieve success when you can see how hard he's worked for it. I know the whole LZHS community shares in congratulating Jake on his state title and are so proud of his impressive accomplishment."

The Certificate of Recognition Bos presented to Myers congratulates and denotes his accomplishment as part of the official record of the 102nd General Assembly.

Myers came from behind to win the 1,600-meter state championship race with a move to split the two runners ahead of him, winning the race in a time of 4 minutes, 10.63 seconds.

Myers' success was even more impressive given one of the runners he overcame, Neuqua Valley's Nick Dovalovsky, came into the state title race with the fastest 1,600-meter sectional time.

Bos called it an example for others to follow in how Jake's "dedication to preparation and his determination carried him to victory."

Having recently graduated from Lake Zurich High School, Myers is headed to the University of Illinois, where Bos wished him continued success.
