School supply donations needed for township's Apple Tree Campaign

Palatine Township has "kicked off" its 33rd annual Apple Tree Campaign, asking the community to help it provide in-need children attending kindergarten through ninth grade in District 15 and District 211 with new backpacks and school supplies.

This year, the township will provide preregistered children with custom packed backpacks at their appointment during the three-day distribution.

Donations are being accepted through July 28 at Palatine Township Center from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, and 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Visit the Palatine Township website for a list of needed school supplies: palatinetownship-il.gov/apple-tree-campaign.

You can shop the township's Amazon wish-list at a.co/i8ndoil, or donate directly online at palatinetownship-il.gov/donate/.

Or, drop off or mail a check, made payable to "Palatine Township Needy Family Fund," with "Apple Tree" in the memo section, to the Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road, Palatine, IL 60067.

"Our Apple Tree Program is successful because of the support and generosity of our township residents. Getting the children the supplies they need allows them to have a successful start to their school year," said Supervisor Andy-John G. Kalkounos.
