GAF and C&N Construction Inc. in Hillside are partnering with Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity to provide roofing materials and professional installation for Habitat's house underway at 1600 W. Wilson St. in Batavia.

The installation and materials donations are part of a national partnership between GAF and Habitat for Humanity International. The partnership matches roofing donations from GAF with installation services donated by GAF Master Elite and certified contractors across the U.S.

Roofing installation will begin this month. Begun in April, construction on the home is scheduled for completion by November. The Batavia home of Janice and George Owino, natives of Kenya, is Habitat's first in Batavia and 68th in the Fox Valley since Habitat's founding in 1988.

Other Habitat homes are in Aurora, North Aurora and Montgomery.

Barbara Zegiel, Habitat funds coordinator, said "Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity is very excited to be in partnership with GAF and C&N Construction. Together we will continue to build affordable housing for local families in need. Thank you for giving back to our community."

C&N is one of more than 4,000 GAF Master Elite and certified contractors who are eligible to participate in the partnership. The installed roofs will carry GAF's System Plus Ltd. warranty.

Jim Slauson, GAF vice president of certified program and services, said "We are thrilled not only to be able to offer this contribution to an organization creating affordable housing, but also to be able to reinforce the efforts of our Master Elite and Certified contractors as they strive to support the communities in which they live and work.

C&N owner Curtis Eshghy said, "We are so pleased to have this chance to work in partnership with Habitat to give back to our neighbors in Batavia. We have a great sense of pride in knowing our work is part of a solution that creates affordable housing with families in our area."
