Arlington Heights Garden Walk and Unique Boutique

The Arlington Heights Garden Club will hold their annual Garden Walk & Unique Boutique on Sunday, June 27th from 10 a.m. to 4 .pm. Five outstanding gardens will be showcased, as well as the beautiful and award winning grounds of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum.

The gardens on the walk show the creativity of the owners and the joy they receive from developing a garden that fits their lifestyle. Shelley's garden reflects her love of color and texture. Bill enjoys a garden that is green even in the middle of winter, and Judy feels the satisfaction of providing food and shelter for insects and wildlife.

Our feature garden was inspired by the memory of the homeowner's own grandmother. There is nothing like a day in Grandma's garden discovering new treasures in amongst plantings. Pat Harris and granddaughter Grace are enjoying a summer day sharing adventures in the Harris' garden. Pat has developed her garden with her grandchildren in mind. This is an opportunity to let your imagination run wild as you discover interesting yard art and miniature areas of enchantment. Viewing her garden will provide you with many fascinating and creative ideas that you may want to develop in your home's garden.

This year garden at The Moorings of Arlington Heights will also be open for viewing. In addition to their lovely garden that is joyfully tended, they are showcasing the talents of several of the residents at The Moorings. Vibrant watercolors, intricate drawings, finely stitched quilts, compelling photographs, delicately placed flower arrangements and much more will be displayed for all to appreciate.

The Unique Boutique on the grounds of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum is free and open to the public. Over 20 vendors will have handcrafted arts, crafts and garden décor for sale. There is also a raffle with many fabulous prizes.

At the Boutique there will be an Ask-A-Gardener booth manned by Master Gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension Service, an Ask the Arborist booth from The Davey Tree Expert Company, lawn care information from Emerald Lawn Care and community information from the village of Arlington Heights.

The Arlington Heights Library will have a mobile book check out and provide plants from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.. Lola's Pizza Palace and the Historical Museum Pop Shop will sell refreshments from 10:30-2:30. Live music will also be featured.

Garden Walk tickets can be purchased for $20 the day of the event, or $15 in advance at 2 Arlington Heights Village Bank & Trust, at the Arlington Heights Farmers Market each Saturday in June, and online at www.ahgardenclub. Proceeds from this fundraiser benefit scholarship, conservation and community activities.
