Women's Auxiliary holds successful Spring 2021 Drive-Thru Fundraiser

The Women's Auxiliary proudly presented its Annual Spring Luncheon with Drive-Thru Frikadeller Dinner Pick-Up on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at The Danish Home of Chicago.

Women's Auxiliary 1st Vice President and Luncheon Chairperson Karen Nylen-Swidergal organized her team of Auxiliary Board Members and Volunteers to serve almost 150 Frikadeller Dinner Plates, 50 lbs. of the Danish sausage medisterpoelse and dozens of delicious baked goods such as Iversen's Almond Kringle, Almond Cardamom Braids, Almond Tarts and Danish Home Pumpernickel.

"The Danish Home Women's Auxiliary Board was very happy to see so many people drive through our pick-up line," said Nylen-Swidergal. "We loved seeing people we haven't seen in a year. We appreciate everyone supporting our luncheon. A special thank you to my volunteers who worked so hard putting the lunch orders together. We couldn't have done this without you! Also a special 'Tak' to Danish Home Chef Roger Sukhu and his staff for making the frikadeller meals."

Danish Home and Women's Auxiliary friends and family rolled by in their cars from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on a rainy May 15 to pick up their tasty Baked Goods, Deli Items and Frikadeller Dinner Plates, which included 3 Danish meatballs, boiled potatoes, red cabbage, cucumber salad, roll and Danish pudding.

During the afternoon, viewers enjoyed Stevie Swing via ZOOM broadcast. Three lucky chance winners also won cash prizes of $500, $250 and $100. In conjunction with the Spring 2021 Fundraiser, the Women's Auxiliary also organized a very successful Online Silent Auction on May 7 - 14 with more than one dozen colorful gift baskets and fabulous prizes.

New Women's Auxiliary members are always welcome to join the dedicated charitable organization. Founded in 1958 by Elna Lorentzen, the Women's Auxiliary members raise funds for and are avid volunteers at The Danish Home of Chicago. The purpose is to assist in the social well-being of the beloved residents at The Danish Home and to help improve their quality of life.
