Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation helps local organizations with grants

Every year, the Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation helps out local community organizations and schools by funding some of their needs.

On May 5, it approved disbursements to about 30 community groups and schools.

While unable to gather recipients at the annual Disbursement Open House, the Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation was thrilled to help out local community organizations and schools, especially with the increase of needs due to COVID-19.

Recipients of grant dollars share the club's goal of bettering life for children and families in Batavia and the Fox Valley. Club members raised this money through new and creative events such as Bunco-at-Home, Trio of Trees, Virtual Bunco, You've Been Boo'ed, Craft Kit Subscriptions, and Somebunny Loves You as well as the virtual the 2021 Fox Trot 5K/10k Race.

Four schools received grant money: Batavia High School Learning Resource Center, $350; Rotolo Middle School Learning Resource Center, $650; Rotolo Middle School, $500; and Grace McWayne Elementary School, $160.

Batavia United Way received $900, followed by Batavia Clothes Closet, $750, and NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)-Aurora and Suicide Prevention Services of America, both at $650.

Grants of $500 went to TriCity Health Partnership, Fox Valley Hands of Hope, CHIP-In, and TriCity Family Services. Mutual Ground in Aurora received $350.

Five organizations received $250: Royal Family Kids Camp, Fox Valley Christian Church, CASA Kane County, Easter Seals of the Fox Valley, and Go With the Flow.

Grants of $200 went to four nonprofits: Marklund, Fox Valley Food for Health, Wayside Cross Ministries, Humanitarian Service Project, and Batavia Nursery School.

Four nonprofits received $100: Lazarus House in St. Charles; Hesed House in Aurora, Joshua Tree, Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley, and Embrace a Family.

Last November, $3,000 went to the "Christmas Families" program. The deadline for philanthropic applications is March 15 each year.
