Salvation Army-Tri-City Corps expands hours, programming in St. Charles

With the expected loosening of COVID-19 restrictions in Illinois next week, The Salvation Army is gradually expanding hours and programming at its Tri-City Corps and Joe K. Anderson Community Center in St. Charles.

While some programming was paused during the pandemic, The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps continued to serve the community with essential needs, including food and emergency financial assistance, in an adapted environment.

The following services are changing:

• Fresh food distribution is returning to The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps gym Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Clients will be allowed in the building to choose their items. As always, there is no paperwork or residency requirement needed to receive food.

• The food pantry is open five days a week by appointment. Clients can call (630) 377-2769 to schedule an appointment between 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Clients will be welcomed in the building on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to choose their own food. The food pantry will remain curbside on Tuesdays and Thursdays for those who prefer contactless pickup.

• Line dancing class is kicking off on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 2 p.m. along with opportunities to walk in the half gym during open hours.

Masks are required for everyone entering the building. All public health guidelines, including social distancing, are being followed.

The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps expects to open up additional classes and programs soon. After-school programs are expected to resume this fall.
