Key to 73 Foundation to host charity golf event

The Key to 73 Hawthorn Education Foundation will host a Golf Charity Tournament Thursday, June 10, at White Deer Run, 250 W. Greggs Parkway, Vernon Hills.

Entry fees range from $150 for an individual golfer to $600 for a foursome. The fee includes lunch, greens fees, cart, bag tags, drink tickets, appetizers and a dinner buffet.

Dinner-only tickets are available for $45. Event sponsorships also are available.

Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m., the shotgun start is at 12:30 p.m., and dinner, cocktails, a silent auction, raffles and awards start at 5:30 p.m. To register, visit events.bizzabo.com/Keyto73golf.

"We would like this event to offer both fun activities for our community members and raise funds for educational programs that are in alignment with the district's strategic plan," said Amy Lamberti, the foundation's president.

"All of the proceeds will support educational opportunities for District 73 students."

Since it was founded in 2017, the foundation has given educators the opportunity to bring resources and cutting-edge innovation to classrooms. The foundation plays a vital role, because Hawthorn represents a diverse community in which approximately 28% of its families are considered low income.

The foundation recently donated $40,000 for Wi-Fi hot spots, helping more than 150 at-risk families access internet services when the district switched to remote learning in response to COVID-19.

Hawthorn School District 73 is a preschool through eighth-grade public school district serving approximately 4,000 students. It serves all or portions of Vernon Hills, Mundelein, Libertyville, Indian Creek and unincorporated areas of Lake County.
