Just Food Initiative to host 'I'm Freezing! Hope You Are Too!'

Interested in saving money on groceries and prolonging the life of your food?

Join St. Charles residents John and Char Johnson-Dunlop for the free program "I'm Freezing! Hope You Are Too" on Sunday, May 2. The program will begin at 2 p.m at Geneva Public Library, 227 S. Seventh St.

Participants will learn all about how to freeze and dehydrate foods as John and Char share their techniques and years of experience during a hands-on demonstration where they will "put up" delicious fruit jerkies and various Mexican and Italian sauces.

With farmers' markets in the area starting to offer fresh fruits and veggies, now is the time to learn these life skills, which will enable individuals to extend the life of the healthy foods they buy beyond the growing season.

COVID-19 precautions will be taken during this in-person event. Food samples will not be served.

Registration is mandatory and can be completed via the Geneva Public Library website at gpld.org/event/5050986.

This program is being presented by The Just Food Initiative of the Fox Valley, a nonprofit organization based in Batavia that is committed to building sustainable and just food systems, as well as restoring quality and equality to the food supply.
