Learn about becoming a court advocate for kids

CASA Kane County is offering volunteers an opportunity to change a child's life for the better.

Find out how to get involved in child advocacy at one of four general information meetings.

The next hourlong informational meeting will be noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, online.

The other online sessions will be 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 27; 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 29; and 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 22.

Learn about the CASA Kane County organization, the role of the CASA/GAL volunteer, and other areas of how to get involved.

CASA has been advocating for children in the foster care system for more than 33 years and has served thousands of youth.

A volunteer's role can be big or small, and there are many ways to join the conversation:

• Talk to friends, family and colleagues about the obstacles facing foster youth and ways that our community can work together to provide support systems for them.

• Understand that children enter foster care through no fault of their own. The challenges that place children in care affect every social, economic and geographic community. No one is immune, and no one should face these challenges alone.

CASA applies child-to-child, case-to-case and CASA-volunteer-to-CASA-volunteer models to fit the specialized needs. By working directly with children and families in and out of the courtroom, CASA ensures children are treated with respect, patience and dignity in their journey to find permanency.
