Rep. Bos Tapped for Wind Energy Economic Development Task Force

LAKE ZURICH - State Representative Chris Bos (R-Lake Zurich), who represents the 51st House District, has been tapped by House Minority Leader Jim Durkin to serve on the Offshore Wind Energy Economic Development Policy Task Force. The group is tasked with facilitating the development of offshore wind energy projects to diversify the state's energy portfolio.

"Illinois is blessed with an abundance of energy resources," said Bos. "Offshore wind energy available through our access to Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes is just one of these resources, and it provides an opportunity to grow and diversify our energy portfolio in a way that is not only sustainable, but benefits economic development. I'm looking forward to this opportunity to expand our state's energy resources and the benefits it will provide to reduce energy costs for families and businesses in Illinois."

The Offshore Wind Energy Economic Development Policy Task Force is a non-compensated group, which besides Bos and three other General Assembly members, consists of a diverse body of individuals experienced in economics and energy development, as well as scientific and environmental backgrounds.

In addition to his recent appointment to the task force, Bos is also a member of the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Legislative Caucus. Similar to the task force, the caucus looks to develop policies that ensure Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes continue to provide a sustainable and valuable resource to Illinois. The primary focus is on maintaining a plentiful source of clean, affordable water to residents, businesses and industries in the state.

"Lake Michigan is an asset to our state in more ways than one," said Bos. "Ensuring its long-term viability as a source of safe, affordable drinking water goes hand-in-hand with the energy and economic benefits it provides. I'm glad to be a part of two groups focused on preserving and using this resource to its fullest potential."
