GLMV presents annual Gem business awards

The Green Oaks, Libertyville, Mundelein, Vernon Hills Chamber of Commerce recently recognized its 2020 GEM award recipients for their outstanding support of business and community, despite the challenges of the past year.

The annual business awards were presented at the GLMV Virtual Membership Gala, "A Gem of An Evening," Feb. 18.

Winners are:

• GLMV WOW! Award: GLMV Chairman 2018-20 and WOW! Women's Network Group Chair Karen Kay Lavris, Glacier Ice Arena, for unending energy, enthusiasm, and leadership.

• GLMV Men Of Business Award: Brian Mattey, Generation Painting Inc., for providing honest, quality professional services and exceptional customer experiences, and positive contributions to community.

• GLMV Community Service Award: Mike Aukerman, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen - Vernon Hills, for hosting several Red Cross blood drives, plus support and leadership in GLMV programs and activities.

• GLMV "Make A Difference" Award: Shelley Lazarus, Snarf Foods, for Snacks for the Troops and other community support programs.

• GLMV Creative Award: Paul Fiorelli, Fiorelli Graphics & Printing, who enhances business awareness with innovative branding and design expertise.

• GLMV Roundtable Award: Bruce Himmelblau, Blue Sky Video, GLMV social media guru at GLMV monthly roundtables.

• Lake County Young Professionals Award: Dr. Mike & Jen Hartlett, Integral Medical & Rehab - Vernon Hills, for their LCYP leadership and spirit.

• GLMV Hero of the Year Award: Matt Primack, Advocate Condell Medical Center, whose medical professionals and first responders are true heroes.

• Stephanie Smith Howard Volunteer Award (presented in December) to Lars Rasmussen, World Financial Group.

The chamber also recognized its four villages for the programs, partnership, and support provided every day to our communities.
