Geneva church to hold 'Drive-In Food Drive' for Salvation Army food pantry Feb. 27

On Saturday, Feb. 27, the United Methodist Church of Geneva is holding another "Drive-In Food Drive" from 10 a.m. until noon to help restock the shelves at the Tri-City Salvation Army food pantry in St. Charles.

The food drive will be at the church, 211 Hamilton St., Geneva. Donations may be made by driving in to the parking lot immediately west of the church (at the back of the building) where volunteers will come to each car and collect food donations. Donors are asked to wear masks and remain in their cars. Volunteers will wear masks and gloves.

The Salvation Army food pantry at the St. Charles location continues to experience an unprecedented need for food and supplies. Donations of nonperishables such as canned fruit, canned pasta, laundry detergent and dish soap, peanut butter and jelly, dry pasta, sauces, condiments, and toiletries are needed.

The church's previous two food drives last fall collected a total of more than 700 bags of groceries and supplies for the food pantry.

Signs and volunteers on Hamilton Street will point you to the drop-off area in the parking lot on Saturday. For the safety of all, church volunteers ask that donors wear a mask and remain in their cars as they move through the parking lot. Food donations should be in bags in the trunk or back of your car. Volunteers wearing masks and gloves will remove donations from the vehicles. Donors can then easily exit from the parking lot.

The UMC of Geneva is holding all worship services online at genevaumc.org.
