Pingree Grove Karate students take home 1st place at Martial Arts Classic

Right before the heavy snowstorm this past Saturday night, three Pingree Grove Karate Academy students, Khloe Tesoro, age 12, Bode Licari, 10, and Karter Tesoro, 8, made their way to compete in the 2021 Winter Martial Arts Classic in Chicago.

With new restrictions for competition due to COVID-19, kids were nervous for this year's competition.

"Definitely different but I'm ready," Khloe states as she prepares for her division.

With kids and parents wearing masks, temperature checks, and social distance between supporting families, this didn't stop these champions from finishing on top.

The three young students took home a total of seven awards with four first-place awards and three second-place awards in divisions of Basics, Board Breaking, Open Forms & Sparring.

Pingree Grove Karate Academy is located at 1125 Wester Blvd. For information, call (312) 771-6098 or visit www.facebook.com/KarateAcademyPingreeGrove/
