St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church sets Ash Wednesday services

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in West Dundee will offer four in-person Ash Wednesday Masses and services at 8, noon, 5 and 7 p.m. The 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Masses will also be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page.

"We will be taking very special anti-COVID-19 precautions this year as we begin the holy season of Lent," said the Rev. Matthew DeBlock, pastor, St. Catherine of Siena Church. "In accordance with the directives given by the Vatican and the Diocese of Rockford, the sprinkling of ashes will be administered in a different manner. We will place the ashes on the top of people's heads rather than the usual custom of personal contact and using them to make a cross on people's foreheads."

Since social distancing in the church requires reduced capacity, advanced signup for all Masses is required.

Visit the church website at www.stcatherinechurch.com to sign up or call the parish office at (847) 426-2217 to sign up for Mass.

St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church is located at 845 W. Main St. in West Dundee.
