West Chicago District 33 to offer free COVID-19 testing Dec. 10

West Chicago Elementary School District 33, the City of West Chicago, the Illinois Department of Public Health and DuPage County Health Department are partnering to host a free COVID-19 mobile testing unit on Thursday, Dec. 10, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until test capacity is reached.

These mobile testing sites will be located at Leman Middle School, 238 E. Hazel St.

Anyone interested in getting tested must follow the designated route. The line will start from southbound Joliet Street and head east onto East Hazel Street. Several road closures will be in place during these events. Northbound Joliet Street will be closed from East Forest Avenue to East Hazel Street. Southbound Bishop Street will be closed from Brown Street to East Forest Avenue. Eastbound East Hazel Street will be closed from Joliet Street to Bishop Street. This will only be open to those waiting in line for testing. Please follow all posted signs and listen to those directing traffic. For a map, visit westchicago.org.

No appointment is necessary. Insurance is not needed. However, if a person does have health insurance, an insurance card should be presented at the time of testing.

This mobile testing unit is in addition to the following ongoing test sites:

• VNA COVID-19 Community Testing Center at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 155 N. Prince Crossing Road, every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Free to those with no insurance.

• DuPage County Complex, off County Farm Road, on Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to noon p.m. until daily test capacity is reached. The testing is free.

• Odeum Expo Center, 1033 N. Villa Ave. in Villa Park, on Sundays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The site will provide up to 600 tests per day. Visitors are encouraged to preregister at testdirectly.com.
