Dundee Township Lions set up annual Christmas tree sale

Thanks to the many community volunteers, the annual Christmas tree sale for the Dundee Township Lions Club is off to a good start.

On Saturday, Nov. 14, more than 40 volunteers unloaded a semi trailer with more than 200 Christmas trees.

The proceeds from the sale of trees will go to support many local nonprofits, including the District 300 Food Pantry, FISH Food Pantry, Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township and the Community Crisis Center, as well as local Lions charities.

This fundraiser is one of the few things the Lions can do due to the pandemic.

The sale will start Saturday, Nov. 21, and continue until all trees are sold. Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. There will be additional sale hours the day after Thanksgiving from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, starting Dec. 3.

The sale will continue until all the trees are sold, usually about three weeks after the start. In addition to trees, there will be wreaths and garland for sale.

The trees will be sold at Grafelman Park, off Main and North Fifth streets in West Dundee.

With regret, the Dundee Lions decided to cancel the Ron Rhoades Festival of Trees for this year. With all the concerns and uncertainties about the pandemic, club members feel it would be impossible to have a safe, fun filled event. They look forward to having this event next year.
