Geneva church collecting donations of food, socks on Nov. 14

On Saturday, Nov. 14, the United Methodist Church of Geneva is holding another Drive-In Food Drive from 10 a.m. to noon to help restock the shelves at the St. Charles (Tri-City) Salvation Army Food Pantry.

The food drive will be held at the church, 211 Hamilton St., Geneva.

The church also will be collecting new socks and underwear for all ages for guests at Hesed House Shelter.

The Salvation Army Food Pantry at the St. Charles location has an unprecedented need for food and supplies, particularly as we head into the holidays.

Donations of non-perishable food as well as laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, and toiletries are needed. Food donations should be placed in bags in the trunk or back of your car.

Donations of new socks and underwear should also be in bags in the trunk or back of your car.

Signs and volunteers on Hamilton Street will point you to the drop-off area in the parking lot from 10 a.m to noon. For the safety of all, donors are asked to wear a mask and remain in their cars and just click open the trunk when they reach the drop-off point in the parking lot. Volunteers wearing masks and gloves will remove donations from the vehicles. Donors can then easily exit from the parking lot.
