Eli Skinner Chapter NSDAR Sponsors Essay Contest

The Eli Skinner Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is offering an American History contest to students in the 5th through 8th grades of public, private, parochial and home schools in our area.

The topic of the essay is "The Boston Massacre." This year is the 250th anniversary of the event that historians believe led to the American Revolution.

Students are asked to imagine that they were living in Boston and witnessed the massacre and then discussed the event with their family and how the massacre influenced the colonists against the British King and Parliament.

The essay must follow specific guidelines. Teachers and students may request a copy of the guidelines by contacting Co-chairmen Carole Komarek (847-899-2308) or Robin Turpin (847-450-4001). Essays must be received by the Eli Skinner Chapter by November 15, 2020. Please contact the American History chapter co-chairmen listed above for additional information.
