Saint Viator grad named new alumni relations manager
Saint Viator High School, Arlington Heights, welcomed alumna Krystal Harris (Class of 2015) as the school's new alumni relations manager.
Harris, who joined the Saint Viator staff on Aug. 3, will oversee the events and activities of the Saint Viator and Sacred Heart of Mary Alumni Association.
A graduate of Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana, Harris was a member of Saint Mary's softball team and graduated with a degree in business administration -- management and marketing.
"It's an honor to be presented with this opportunity," said Harris. "Saint Viator played an important role in my development as a student, an athlete, and an individual and I cannot wait to get back and begin contributing in this new role."
• Michael Campbell, president and CEO of Advancing Global EDU Inc., Fox River Grove, was elected president and chairman of the Reaching Across Illinois Libraries System's (RAILS) board of directors, executive committee.
Campbell also is a board of trustee member for the Fox River Grove Memorial Library and has worked with small to mid-sized firms in the educational service and technology sector since 2012.
In 2014, he was appointed to a seat on the Fox River Grove Memorial Library board, and then elected to the position in April of 2015.
Campbell is dedicated to youth and education initiatives both within Illinois and on the national level. He is a member of several company advisory boards, including EdWeb.net and SparkPath, and has served on professional associations such as the Education Technology Industry Network and the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois, where he serves on the executive committee.
"I look forward to working with the board and the libraries within the system," Campbell said. "RAILS and the many libraries in our system have done admirable work during the pandemic, and I look forward to continuing to support that mission for libraries in the state of Illinois."
• The Grayslake Community Park District honored Jeff Woods of the Grayslake Youth Baseball Association with its 2020 Friends of the Park Award.
During his long tenure with the Grayslake Youth Baseball Association, Woods has worked side-by-side with the Grayslake Park District on several capital projects to improve baseball fields and facilities. In addition to the ball field improvements, Woods has worked to improve the overall youth baseball program and experience for players and families.
"It is an honor to recognize Jeff Woods for his outstanding dedication to and support of parks and recreation in Grayslake," said park board President Ken Ryan.
"Over the years, Jeff has dedicated countless hours to coaching and serving the youth in our community through the Grayslake Youth Baseball Association."
• Nicole T. Schiller, a 2020 Palatine High School graduate, was one of 285 student caddies nationwide awarded a full tuition and housing scholarship from the Evans Scholarship Foundation in 2020. Schiller will attend the University of Minnesota, where she will study biology, with plans to be an orthodontist.
While at Palatine High School, Schiller was a three-year member of the Science Olympiad Team, medaling at state twice and serving as a team captain in 2020. She is a member of the National Honor Society and an AP Scholar with distinction. A caddie at Inverness Golf Club and an Evans Scholar, Schiller graduated with a cumulative, weighted GPA of 4.69.
In 1930, the Western Golf Association and celebrated amateur golfer Charles "Chick" Evans Jr., established the Evans Scholars Foundation. The foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to sending deserving caddies to college.
